Tinubu Unveils Ultra-Modern NRS Headquarters, Signals New Era for Nigeria’s Revenue System

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially commissioned the new Corporate Headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service in Abuja, marking a major step in the Federal Government’s sweeping reforms of the country’s revenue administration.
The high-profile ceremony attracted top government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
Also present were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, members of the Federal Executive Council, and state governors under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by its chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The newly commissioned complex—described as a world-class facility—comprises three towers rising 16 floors, with the capacity to accommodate approximately 3,000 personnel. The structure is expected to enhance operational efficiency and provide a centralised hub for Nigeria’s evolving revenue system.
The inauguration also highlights the formal transition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service to the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), a key reform designed to strengthen the nation’s fiscal framework.
President Tinubu had earlier, in June 2025, signed the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, paving the way for the transformation. The rebranding officially took effect on January 1, 2026, with the goal of modernising tax administration, streamlining revenue collection, and improving overall efficiency in Nigeria’s financial system.
The commissioning signals the government’s renewed commitment to building a more robust, transparent, and technology-driven revenue architecture.
