- FG Backs AFRIDEX 2026, Pushes Innovation and Security Collaboration

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and inter-agency collaboration as key drivers of national security and development, ahead of the African International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) 2026.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this known while receiving a delegation led by Major General Umar Alkali in Abuja. He described AFRIDEX as a strategic platform capable of strengthening Nigeria’s defence and security architecture through partnership rather than isolated efforts.
Tunji-Ojo commended the initiative for creating opportunities for Nigerian innovators, especially youths in digital and cybersecurity, noting that showcasing local talent would boost economic growth and global competitiveness. He emphasized that stronger links between research, innovation, and market access are essential for sustainable development.
The Minister also urged organisers to make AFRIDEX an annual event and called for deeper collaboration among security and intelligence agencies, stressing the need for collective progress over institutional rivalry. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s support and recommended improved visa facilitation, including a dedicated support desk for international participants.
AFRIDEX 2026 is scheduled to hold from October 26 to 29 at Eko Atlantic City. The event is expected to attract over 30,000 participants and 500 exhibitors from across the globe, showcasing innovations across land, air, maritime, space, and cyber domains.
Organisers say the exhibition, supported by the Federal Government and the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, will position Nigeria as a leading hub for defence innovation and security solutions.
