2027 Polls Won’t Stall Abuja Projects — Wike Fires Back at Critics

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja will continue uninterrupted despite preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after inspecting key road projects linking Kuje and Gwagwalada, Wike said governance would not be derailed by political activities, stressing that contractors and technical teams remain focused on delivery.
He expressed confidence that a significant portion of the administration’s targets would be achieved ahead of schedule, noting that work is driven by economic necessity and contractual obligations—not politics.
The Minister also dismissed criticisms by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing them as baseless and politically motivated. He challenged Atiku to compare the current state of the FCT with what was achieved during his time in office, insisting that visible progress speaks for itself.
Wike further denied allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of interference in its convention, urging the party to provide proof of any wrongdoing.
He reiterated that the administration remains committed to delivering critical infrastructure and improving the lives of residents, regardless of the political season.
