mahi Hosts New NLNG CEO
Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has announced President Bola Tinubu’s approval for the dualisation of the 8.9-kilometre road linking the Bodo-Bonny Road to the East-West Road in Rivers State.
Umahi made the disclosure while receiving the new Managing Director/CEO of Nigeria LNG, Adeleye Falade, at the Ministry of Works headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to the Minister, the new concrete road project will feature two flyovers, solar-powered streetlights, CCTV monitoring systems, and landscaping, with an estimated cost of ₦150 billion due to the difficult terrain.
He said the project will be handled by Julius Berger, which is already on site, adding that the Federal Government expects completion within 12 months without cost variation.
Umahi also revealed that savings from the completed Bodo-Bonny Road project have been redirected to provide solar lighting and tree planting along the corridor.
The Minister praised President Tinubu’s infrastructure agenda, describing it as unprecedented and focused on delivering durable roads with modern safety features.
Earlier, NLNG’s new CEO, Adeleye Falade, thanked the Federal Government for supporting the Bodo-Bonny Road project, noting that the road has significantly reduced travel time to Bonny Island from about four hours to one and a half hours.
Falade also expressed NLNG’s readiness to support the next phase of the road project.
